We all love a good park and pool trip–this is where my fam lives 90% of the summer, BUT sometimes we want to switch things up and try something new. Here are 6 ideas for ways to shake things up a bit this summer and make some amazing memories as a family!
Go Creek Stomping
We LOVE a good creek stomping trip. It’s fun for all ages and can be refreshing on a hot day. Have kids wear swimsuits, and bring towels, extra change of clothes, and little nets to see if you can catch anything in the creek! Below are our favorite spots to Creek Stomp in & around Carmel, IN.

Go to an Outdoor Concert
Is it just me or has the Indy metro area become THE spot for free, family friendly outdoor concerts? We have SO many options! Grab a blanket or some lawn chairs, a cooler, and your dancing shoes and attend one of the many free outdoor concerts in our area. Take A Day Trip
Sometimes it’s fun to get away for the day! We have loved exploring some Indiana towns within a 2 hour drive from the Carmel area. We’ve explored Columbus, IN, Lafayette, IN, and Fair Oaks Farms so far this year and have had a blast every time!
See a game
Whether you’re a sports lover or not, the atmosphere cheering on a local team is fun for all! Head to Victory field and watch the Indy Indians play baseball, catch an Indy Eleven soccer match, or check out Colts Training Camp in late July at Grand Park!
Watch an outdoor/drive-in movie
I remember watching a movie outside as a kid felt like the first time I’d ever been to a movie theatre–it was such a special experience! Below are places to watch your favorites on the big screen, outdoors.

Go putt putting or try disc golf
Take the family out for a little afternoon competition! We love to putt at Birdies (Westfield, IN), Forest Park (Noblesville, IN), or in the outdoor sports exhibit at The Children’s Museum.
Looking for even more of an adventure? Grab a frisbee and try disc golfing! There are disc golf courses at Inlow Park (Carmel), Northview Church (Carmel, IN), and Asa Bales Park (Westfield, IN). You can find a map of all the area disc golf courses, here.
