Introducing Keeping Up Local: Personal Guides to Local Living

I can’t believe this day is finally here! I am SO excited to introduce Keeping Up Local to you.

The original concept was to see if we created a central resource for people to feel connected to where they lived and presented it through the point of view of someone who also lives in that community... would it add value to those who lived there?

We tested this idea initially in Carmel with me and Keeping Up In Carmel and then pretty soon after replicated the idea with Maddie and Keeping Up In Greenwood....and now we're ready to take it nationwide.

Keeping Up Local is an organization of local affiliates that serve as the go-to guide to their cities and communities. Each Keeping Up Local affiliate is managed by a member of their own community, committed to helping people feel connected to where they live.

Our mission is to make local living effortless and enjoyable by offering a personalized guide to the best events, businesses, and community highlights in your area.

HOW IT WORKS:

Think of Keeping Up Local as the parent company to Keeping Up In Carmel, Keeping Up In Greenwood, and all future affiliates. KUIC & KUIG are the first affiliates in the Keeping Up Local network.

Each affiliate is run by a Local Ambassador who is an active member of their community. Maddie is the local ambassador for Keeping Up In Greenwood, and I (Chelsea) am the local ambassador for Keeping Up In Carmel.

Each affiliate operates as a unique digital media platform in a specific geography, with core content pillars that remain consistent across all affiliates (eg. The IN List, giveaway week, etc.)

It is business as usual for Keeping Up In Carmel and Keeping Up In Greenwood! These are the first two affiliates in the Keeping Up Local network, and are examples for what to expect from future affiliates.

THE ASK:

We need community minded people across the country to bring Keeping Up Local affiliates to their areas! If you or someone you know may be interested in becoming a Local Ambassador, visit keepinguplocal.com to apply.

Stay tuned for the official announcement video posted at 9am on the @keepinguplocal IG account! And hit the follow button on this account to stay caught up with new affiliate launches and examples of how they add value to the community.

BEHIND THE SCENES:

Blog subscribers...you are my ride or dies…the most engaged and supportive audience. I am so grateful for you! If you’re interested in how all this came about, the next section is for you.

The development of Keeping Up Local has been in the works for a long (too long) time. When we launched Keeping Up In Greenwood 16 months ago, the work to develop Keeping Up Local began.

After lots of learning as we went, I quickly realized I was going to need to recruit outside advice to get this set up right. There was a decent amount of legal work we needed to be ready to launch this on a national scale, and that took time. Shoutout to our attorney Justin Hays at CCHA Law for understanding the vision and bringing it to life!

October 1st was a date I had in the back of my mind and continued to pray over. Any later in the year and things get too busy with holiday activities, etc…so if I wanted to launch it this year, that was the deadline. I received a few documents I was waiting on to take this live on August 29th, 2024. I immediately thought “Okay God, I see you.” We had just enough time to make 10/1 happen. So we went to work building the branding, site, application, social posts, etc…and here we are!

The launch goes out on IG at 9am and I am freaking out with nerves and excitement. Thank you guys for staying with me on this journey! I am so excited to continue in this next step together.
